Role Overview – Kero Animation is hiring an experienced Lead Illustrator for a full-time remote position. This role is ideal for talented illustrators with exceptional visual storytelling skills and a strong command of composition, color, and character design who are ready to take on creative leadership responsibilities and shape the visual direction of animation projects.

Visual Direction and Leadership – You will guide the visual direction of our animation projects, establishing the artistic vision and ensuring it's executed consistently across all productions. Your responsibilities include defining visual styles, making key creative decisions, reviewing and approving artwork, setting quality standards, and ensuring that all visual elements support and enhance the storytelling objectives.

Character and Environment Development – You will develop original characters and environments that bring our stories to life. This involves creating character designs that are visually compelling and narratively meaningful, designing environments that establish mood and context, developing props and assets, ensuring designs are animation-friendly, and creating visual development artwork that guides the production team.

Design Expertise – A sharp eye for composition, color theory, and narrative-driven design is crucial for this role. You must understand how composition guides viewer attention, how color communicates emotion and atmosphere, how design choices support storytelling, and how to create visually cohesive work that serves the narrative effectively.

Communication and Feedback Skills – Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback are essential. You should be articulate in expressing creative vision, diplomatic in critiquing work, clear in providing direction, encouraging in developing talent, and effective in facilitating creative discussions that lead to better outcomes.
